Tiger Woods and Why He scared Fuzzy Zoeller

Snippets from the article:
"Why in almost the year 2000 is it still considered so unusual for Tiger Woods to exist, why such a shock in America? It seems as though Tiger Woods has taken flack from just about everyone, including "his own kind" whom ever that might be. Blacks have lambasted him for claiming his own heritage on his own terms. His definition of himself as a "cabalasian" Don't we all have the right to define our own identity? Jealous fuzzy zoeller attempted to humiliate Woods after his Masters victory with the old "watermelon and chicken" routine.
I hate to break the news to you...but Tiger did not break the color barrier. Funny how the media often "forgot" to mention Charlie Sifford, Lee Elder and perhaps others. and treated Tiger as though he was the first. In fact, Tiger himself, did his job on the course, and the media's job by constantly reminding them who paved the way for his success in almost every interview. His acknowledgment gave honor and respect to the black professional golfer who were his predecessors. I also think about the hundreds of black caddies that acquired picked up tons of golfing knowledge while lugging around clubs that they weren't allowed to play with on these courses in their own right. No Tiger was not the first.
Tiger is a brilliant handsome golfing phenom. What he has accomplished at his age should have been enough to warrant press ink on it"s own. As far as the skin color issue goes...folks it's almost the year 2 grand. Isn't it about time to let everybody be who they want to be? It's no skin off your nose or mine.
I find the words of Audre Lourde, feminist, lesbian and author, quite relevant to Tiger Woods. "If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive."
