THIS MONTH’S  Reading and Listening

Brudda Iz

I"srael "Iz" Kaʻanoʻi Kamakawiwoʻole translation: "The Fearless Eyed"; May 20, 1959 – June 26, 1997, also called Bruddah Iz, was a Hawaiian musician, entertainer and sovereignty activist…" according to Wikipedia. His voice like a Hawai'ian Lei soft, spun with love and deep abiding aloha. Over the Rainbow is his take on a classic. Genuine and reflective.

Native Code

Before coding was cool. There was a different kind of code being used in secret to combat Hitler in World War II. Chester Nez—Not his real name, was aggressively discouraged from speaking his native tongue, yet the code used to secretly communicate during the war was based on his mother tongue.

Queen Bey

A woman in total command of her craft. She’s got the pipes, the vibes and the visual gifts. Her career took a mature turn, turning up the power a couple of notches past atom bomb to nuclear.
This album was fire.

Luke Cage

Take a little bit of Harlem. A lot of color, some crazy good acting and a smidgen of fantasy. Binge watch half, savor, bingewtch he second half. Rinse repeat. There is so much juiciness in plot, acting, visuals that makes this Marvel series outstanding.
